Club Passim Hosts Passim Persists Streaming Festival

During this pandemic, music venues have been closed, and musicians have turned to performing online concerts to reach their audience. Club Passim, the famous folk club in Cambridge, Massachusetts, created the PEAR (Passim Emergency Artist Relief) Fund to aid some of the struggling musicians, and through that fund was able to provide grants to more than two hundred artists. The venue has also been helping to host a series of online concerts, the money raised going to keeping both the musicians and the club going.

Now the venue has announced the Passim Persists Festival, which will begin streaming on Wednesday, June 24, and will continue nightly through Tuesday, June 30. Artists who will be performing include Vance Gilbert, Peter Mulvey, Dar Williams, Aoife O’Donovan, Pamela Means and Tim Gearan. Word is these shows will be performed in the round, with the artists interacting with each other, so we’ll see how exactly that works. The shows will start each night at 8 p.m. eastern time on the venue’s website. Visit the website for the full lineup. Viewers are encouraged to donate $25 per night to the Passim Persists campaign (but any amount will be appreciated). All donations will go toward the Passim Persists Spring Fundraiser to support the club.

At some point this pandemic will be a thing of a past. When that happens, let’s make sure our favorite music venues don’t also pass into history.
