Adriana And The Wildflowers at Republic Of Pie, 12-16-19: Photos

This month Adriana And The Wildflowers are doing a residency at Republic Of Pie in North Hollywood, playing every Monday night. Tonight was my first time seeing the group, and I fell for them immediately. This was partly due to the presence of cello, an instrument I adore, and partly because of the songwriting. But mainly it was because of Adriana’s voice. Her voice is absolutely beautiful and clear, and there is something adorable about her delivery. Listen to a song or two and see if you don’t fall in love with her voice.

The group focused on original material tonight, including a couple of songs from The Girl With Sunflower Eyes EP – “Other People” and “50’s” (the latter having a 1950s vibe, which is cool). They are currently working on their debut full-length album, to be titled Where The Pine Trees Grow, and they played the title track, a pretty song. They also played a couple of Joni Mitchell songs – “Big Yellow Taxi” and “Both Sides Now.” “Both Sides Now” is a song that gets to me every time, and I have to concentrate to hold back the tears. Adriana And The Wildflowers gave us a gorgeous and interesting rendition. They wrapped up their set with a song titled “Underwater Cave,” with Adriana saying it was about having a dream that you do nothing about. That spoke to me. I am looking forward to seeing these guys again next Monday.

Here are a few photos from the show:
