Music plays a big part in the holiday season for most folks. By this point, we all likely have a fairly large collection of holiday CDs and records in our homes. But live performances really add that special touch of holiday magic and warmth to our evenings. Club Passim in Cambridge, Massachusetts offers several nights of music to help get you into a festive mood and celebrate this time of year.
Tonight, banjo player Tony Trischka performs his annual holiday show, where he will be joined by Tim Eriksen, Sean Trischka, Hannah Read and Jared Engel. Tickets are $30 and $28 for members.
Then on December 19th and 20th, Jennifer Kimball and Rose Polenzani lead a group of Boston musicians in a program of holiday music touching upon the sacred and the secular, with classical, folk, pop and traditional songs performed on a wide variety of instruments. Tickets are $28 and $26 for members.
Scottish Fish is a Boston band made up of Ava Montesi on fiddle, Caroline Dressler on fiddle, Giulia Haible on cello and piano, Julia Homa on fiddle and piano, and Maggie MacPhail on fiddle and piano. On December 22nd, the group will perform a holiday concert. Tickets are $20 and $18 for members.
On December 23rd, Irish vocalist and harpist Áine Minogue will perform some beautiful holiday music to transport the audience to that special place we all imagine during the holiday season. Tickets are $25 and $23 for members.
