Teresa James And The Rhythm Tramps at Ireland’s 32, 9-20-24: Photos

Teresa James is a talented and respected vocalist who has performed and recorded with a lot of artists over the years, including Richard T. Bear, Randy Newman, Eric Burdon, Kelly Z, Matt Lomeo, Mike Zito, Laura Tate, and Paula Fong. It’s no wonder that folks want her on their albums, because she has one hell of a great voice. She also fronts her own band, Teresa James And The Rhythm Tramps, a groovy blues group that has released several albums, and in which she plays keys as well as sings. Last night that band played at Ireland’s 32 in Van Nuys. They took the stage a little after 9:30 p.m., opening the first set with “My Heart Took A Beating.” The band delivered two fantastic sets of music, playing songs like “I’d Do It For You,” “That Cat’s In The Doghouse,” “I Like It Like That,” “Come On Home,” “Better Angels,” “Love Is For All Time,” “Flip Flop,” and “You Can’t Get The Hell Out Of Texas.” They did two Beatles covers, “Ticket To Ride” (featuring a seriously cool blues ending) and “Oh! Darling.” The second set ended at 1:06 a.m. There was talk of a third set, but the drummer started packing up his cymbals, seeming to indicate it wasn’t going to happen, and I took off (if a third set ended up happening, sans drums, let me know). If you get a chance to see this band, I highly recommend doing so. Here are a few photos from this completely enjoyable show.
